It's all about marketing. An unknown artist from a small country who is not a native English speaker is not very marketable in countries like the UK and the US. True, she is a far better singer than the likes of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, but they have such amazing marketing machines behind them and are lucky enough to come from the US that even though they are very talented as well, they have other things going for them besides ability. Just the way it is I'm afraid.
